WADA publishes new Athlete Biological Passport Guidelines and announces webinars for upcoming Modules

Today, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) is pleased to publish new ones. Athlete Biological Passport Usage Principles (ABP Guidelines) have been updated to include the upcoming Endocrine Module and new Steroid Module markers measured in blood, both of which will be introduced with the launch of the ADAMS Next Generation ABP Module at the end of August 2023.

Related to these updates, we are also publishing two new Laboratory Guidelines on Analytical Test Procedures for measuring markers for the Endocrine Module and measuring steroid markers in blood (serum) samples.

ABP Guidelines

ABP’s Endocrine Module collects information on markers of human growth hormone (hGH) doping. The module aims to determine the use of hGH analogues, fragments and release factors classified in Section S2.2, as well as the use of hGH. banned list. This module can also demonstrate the use of insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I), classified under Section S2.3 of the Prohibited List.

ABP’s Steroid Module collects information on steroid doping markers measured in urine samples so far. This module has been updated to include markers measured in blood (serum) samples.

Laboratory Guidelines

The following Laboratory Guidelines for analytical testing of blood samples provide direction on preanalytical, sample preparation procedure, performance of the test, and reporting of test results:
