Statement from USADA CEO Travis T. Tygart on First Guilty Plea Under the Rodchenkov Anti-Doping Act


Eric Lira’s confession today is a powerful testament to the power of the Rodchenkov Anti-Doping Act (RADA), which holds those who conspired against the rules to rob clean athletes and defraud the sport. This is a landmark result, considering this is the first case under the newly enacted RADA following the unprecedented state-sponsored doping fraud perpetrated by the Russian state and sports system against innocent athletes and fans around the world. Without this law, Lira, who portrayed herself as a doctor to athletes, would likely have survived the consequences of dispensing dangerous performance-enhancing drugs and the consequences of her conspiracy to defraud the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, as she was not covered by any sports antithesis. doping rules
